5 Reasons To Use Infographics for Marketing

Infographics are being used by a wide variety of businesses for marketing and advertising. They can be used in creative ways to inform and entertain potential customers. This article explains five reasons why you should be using infographics for marketing.

Infographics have become incredibly popular over the past few years. They are now one of the most popular searches on Google. There are infographics explaining everything from how to survive a nuclear explosion to how to make the perfect cup of tea. Thousands of businesses have recognized the power of infographics for marketing, and they can deliver excellent returns on investment.

Using infographics for marketing your business may require some creative thinking. You may not see an obvious opportunity at first, but the versatile nature of infographics means every business can benefit from creating and distributing them. The following five reasons explain why you should be using infographics to market your business.

1. Infographics tell stories

One of the key benefits of infographics is that they can tell a story using visuals and retain the reader’s interest. Complex and otherwise dull data and information can be presented in entertaining ways. A good infographic can grab the reader’s attention and keep him interested enough to absorb all the information presented.

Various studies have concluded that people are more likely to remember things if they are presented in an entertaining format. Telling a story is one of the oldest and most effect methods used in marketing.

2. You can position yourself as an expert

So called ‘thought leadership’ is claimed by many gurus as one of the powerful ways to market a modern business. Thought leadership involves creating and sharing content to establish yourself as an expert in your field. Infographics are the perfect medium for this.

For example, if you run a business selling cameras, customers are more likely to deal with you if they regard you as an expert on photographic equipment. Creating an infographic about how to choose the right type of camera could put you ahead of your competitors.

3. Infographics can be interactive

Making an infographic interactive is an excellent way to engage a reader and get your message across. By allowing someone to explore your infographic in his own way you make it a more unique experience. A reader can choose the data and information he wants to look at and do so at his own pace. Most interactive infographics are created using Flash or HTLM5. If you don’t have the necessary skills to do this you can hire a freelancer to do the design and coding for you.

4. Infographics can go viral

If a reader finds your infographic interesting and entertaining there’s a good chance he’ll share it with others. This is a very cost effective way of reaching new customers. Think about the file name you use for your infographic as search engines may find and rank it for search results. Use relevant keywords in the title and content for search engine optimization (SEO) purposes.

5. Infographics are great for social media marketing

Social media marketing is now well established as a proven method of building a brand and growing a business. Infographics can be a part of this. Share your infographics on Facebook, Instagram and other platforms, and let your Twitter followers know where they can see it. Smart use of social media can allow you to reach thousands of readers for very little effort.
