Do not be misguided! Do not think for a second that flying kites is fun activity for kids alone because you are old. You’re not old, you’re just… seasoned.
You’ve simply seen more Christmases and Halloweens and have come to realize that Santa does not exist. But your fun radar is still very much functioning and you KNOW that flying this Octopus Kite would be an exhilarating experience.
Details of the Octopus Kite
Here’s a YouTube video of the original Giant Octopus Kite flying in all it’s mesmerizing glory:
The ridiculously gigantic octopus kite in the above video seems like something straight out of a movie. It was made by Peng Xian Chun, a custom kite maker and was first flown in Singapore. It took 6 adults to get the massive beast, which measures 200 feet (about the length of 5 city buses) up in the air.
Unfortunately, the giant kite in the above video is not up for sale.
However, there are many similar ones that you can get online ranging in length from 33 feet to 100 feet depending on how crazy you choose to be.
This one from Amazon is the same one on the main product link above. It measures 24 feet from head to tail and is made with ripstop nylon, like the giant one, I think. You can fly it in open spaces like parks and beaches.
I agree, the 24 feet long octopus kite linked on this page is a far cry from the original 200 feet long giant octopus kite of the above video. But your kids won’t disappointed at all. If you first showed them a video of the giant octopus kite and then gave them a box with this one in it, they’d be too stoked to notice.
The Perfect Gift
This seems like the perfect summer present. You may even dare to use this as replacement for a regular vacation cruise in the Caribbean (you’re on your own with that plan though). Friends, family, and kids in particular would really appreciate this.
Flying this kite would be a great way to get outside and take in some fresh air while exercising lightly. And once you have purchased the kite, flying is free!
